DIY Scallop Paver and Wood Desk
I fell in love with the little patio table using scallop cement pavers and a square or round paver top making the rounds on social media. I’ve been a scallop lover for years and have loved the scallop resurgence the last year or so. I’ve also seen a few projects using square pavers to make a console table. So I thought, why can’t I use scallop cement pavers to make a desk for my newly renovated sunroom/nook? (See parts 1 and 2 of this makeover, it’s really fun and there’s plenty of DIY drama involved). So here we are, ready to dive into this desk project. There was a lot of pondering involved, but I'm in love with how it turned out. It's functional, budget-friendly, and one-of-a-kind. You could paint it any color and it would be beautiful—and you could also use it as a console table in an entryway or behind the couch!

Why Cement Pavers?
I used scallop-edge pavers (the kind you'd normally use for garden edging), and they created the most charming and sturdy base. It’s got texture, weight, and that “I can’t believe that’s DIY” kind of appeal.
Paired with a clean wood top (I used a birch veneer board basically ready to go from Home Depot), it strikes the perfect balance between industrial and warm—ideal for your DIY home office desk, whether you’re working or crafting.
Supplies:
Scallop cement pavers (I used 16 for the base)
A wood board cut to your desired desktop size
Construction adhesive
Caulking to hide concrete paver seams
Sandpaper and stain or sealer for finishing the wood
Furniture pads for the bottom of the pavers
Here is the list of most of the supplies on Amazon (affiliate link).
Steps
1. Choose Your Pavers
Look for scallop-edge cement pavers that are flat on one side so they’ll stack easily. Arrange them in two stacks (like table legs).
2. Prep the Wood Top
I sanded my wood board smooth, then sealed it with a satin polyurethane for a clean, durable finish. You could also stain or paint it to match your space.
3. Assemble the Base
Stack your pavers evenly and use construction adhesive.
4. Prime and Paint Pavers
Prime and paint pavers if desired.
5. Attach the Desktop
Center your wood board on the paver stacks. Use brackets underneath or adhesive to keep things solid. I did not attach the wood top to the desk yet. I’m still deciding if I want to keep it in that space and I know if I want to move it, it will be easier to move without the top attached.
6. Style and Enjoy!
Pro Tips
Add a clear coat to the pavers if you want to reduce dust or darken their tone slightly.
